Why Choose Forest Sports Education?
For the last 12 years we have achieved outstanding progress! At the start of each year students are given a ‘minimum target grade’ and an ‘aspirational target grade.’ To achieve outstanding progress, on average every student needs to meet their aspirational target grade. This means every student needs to do better than what is expected based on previous results. We have managed to maintain these extremely high standards for 12 years!
As well as a quality educational experience, you will also gain a quality practical experience as well. Our very talented football team has had a number of successes over the past few years. We have won the GFA inter College League back to back in 2019 and 2020 defeating teams such as Hartpury, Gloucestershire College, North Bristol, City of Bristol among others. In addition, in 2018 we also won a national competition in the VLUK cup, defeating teams such as Crystal Palace Foundation Academy, Ware FC and Lee Hendrie Football Academy.
As well as football, our students also get the opportunity to experience a vareity of different sports. This year, our students have had the opportunity to try their hand at a number of different sports such as; American Football, Tennis, Enball, Football Tennis, Basketball and Ultimate Frisbee. Next year, there will be an opportunity to participate in these sports competitively as we have arranged fixtures in a number of different sports!
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development provides you with the opportunity to apply theory to practice. The unit ‘Fitness Training’ allows students to design and deliver a six week training programme in a gym enviornment; Sports Coaching units allow students to deliver sports sessions to local Primary School Children; and Organising Sports Events provides students with the opportunity to deliver sports events to the local community. In addition, there are also many other opportunities where you will actually get to apply what you have learnt (making you more employable!). Another factor, which sets us apart from other providers is the potential coaching experience which you have the opportunity to be involved in. As a College, we run in partnership with the local Sports Coaching Company ProStars. That means, you can gain coaching experience whenever you want. In fact, many of our ‘BSc Honours Degree’ students have impressed so much, that they have been offered paid roles by the company. This College could help provide you with your first job within the sporting sector!
After leaving education, you need to know that your experience was worth while. After leaving Forest Sports Education, our students have gone on to impressive job roles such as Sports Journalists, Sports Coaches, Sports Marketing Officers, Disability Coaches, Sports Development Officers and many more!
